Search Field Descriptions

Use these fields to search information from digitally scanned newspaper pages:

“Keyword” – Type a word or combination of words to find a person, business, wedding announcement, obituary or advertisement. Keywords should be words that are found in the text of your paper. The keyword function cannot search logos, so if you’re searching for an advertiser, type in an address or phrase that might appear in the ad.

“Publication” – Click on the drop-down arrow to see the list of all 100 participating “Nebraska News Link” newspapers. To search by newspaper, click on the drop-down arrow and select a specific newspaper. If you want to search all papers, click on “all publications,” or system will automatically default to search all publications if you don’t make a manual selection.

“Page No.”This is an OPTIONAL FIELD to use if you’re searching for a specific PAGE NUMBER(S).  For example, if you wanted to search “Letters to the Editor,” and they always appear on page three, type 3 in the field and enter the start/end dates for your search. Only page three(s) will appear in your search results. If you’re not searching for specific page numbers, leave this field blank.

“Start Date” and “End Date” – These dates automatically default to today’s date. To select a START date, click on the “show calendar” button and select a date. Do the same for an END date. (Refer to the publication drop-down menu to see each papers’ publication date to use in your search).

In the calendar box, to the left and right of the word “Today,” you’ll see a set of single arrows, as well as a set of double arrows. Clicking on the left or right SINGLE ARROW will take you forward or backward by MONTH. Clicking on the left or right DOUBLE ARROWS will take you forward or backward by YEAR.

“Results per Page” – This field determines the number of condensed line item search results that appear, based on your search criteria. This field automatically defaults to 25 results per page, but if you’re conducting a large search across many newspapers or dates, you can change this field (50, 100, 200) to condense more line item results per page.

COMPLETED ARCHIVES of your digitally scanned pages are available from June 1, 2008 forward to your most current issue. While scanning of your pages began in Fall 2007, because of testing and version changes, archived pages prior to June 1 may not be complete.
