Membership has its benefits.
Founded in 1873, the mission of the Nebraska Press Association is to protect freedom of the press and to promote the overall business interests and professional development of its members.
As one of Nebraska’s oldest trade organizations, we are proudly continuing that tradition in the 21st century. Our members represent hard-working community journalists across Nebraska. We strive to inform, champion and elevate our members as they continue their important work.

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS:
NPA serves as the “voice of the press” and our industry in Nebraska. With more than 1,000 bills introduced during the legislative session each year, Nebraska’s public notices and other industry interests come under constant challenge. NPA coordinates governmental affairs efforts on behalf of its members. NPA is constantly fighting to keep public notices in newspapers and on newspaper websites — and to maintain access to government information so the press can do its job and serve the watchdog role that is so crucial to our citizens.
PUBLIC NOTICE:
NPA constantly works to keep public notices in newspapers and on newspaper websites, where the notices have the best chance to get noticed, giving Nebraska’s citizens the best chance of seeing these notices about actions and efforts that will affect them. NPA maintains NEPublicNotices.com, a statewide public notice website, to make it easy for anyone, anywhere to access those notices.
NPA maintains a website that provides the means for producing an aggregated database of public notice advertising as it appears in the official journal newspapers. Member newspapers upload the data to the site. The free-access website launched in 2021. The citizens of Nebraska have the opportunity to be informed on public issues not only through the permanent legal form in print but through internet access as well.
ELEVATE
REVENUE GENERATION:
Membership in NPA is like adding additional sales staff to your operation. Through OnePress, the marketing arm of Nebraska Press Association, advertisers can reach member publications’ readership and news website audiences. OnePress staff handles sales calls to areas that may be cost prohibitive for a member operation. OnePress handles the rate negotiations, places the insertion orders, collects tearsheets and invoices the client. Further, OnePress staff are continually developing additional revenue streams to help grow your advertising revenues.
BE PART OF EXCLUSIVE, SCALABLE NETWORKS:
NPA members can be part of the exclusive networks such as our small ad network, classified network, Branded Content network and digital network. Clients find these networks to be a great investment for their reach and audience. In addition to receiving year end rebates for your participation, these networks often introduce new advertisers to your publications and websites that may result in future paid advertising campaigns.
WHITE LABEL DIGITAL TOOLS:
OnePress has set up premier partnerships our members can benefit from, including access to a vast menu of digital products to offer clients. From standard programmatic to social media, our member papers now have the ability to compete and increase advertising revenue streams through this partnership. The platform is white labeled for your use.
FOUR LEGGED SALES CALLS & TRAINING:
The OnePress team can go on four-legged sales calls, representing ourselves as part of your team. We can also meet with your team and offer trainings on digital sales, how to overcome objections and more.
SALES STRATEGY:
The OnePress team is happy to meet with you and help develop a local sales strategy and/or offer insights in ways to increase sales.
CONTENT GENERATION & BRANDED CONTENT NETWORK:
The Branded Content Network is a new revenue initiative that involves print, digital and social aspects for clients. You can also use OnePress as a resource if you have a local client who wants a brand content piece produced.
PRESS RELEASE DISTRIBUTION:
NPA can distribute press releases statewide, emailing them directly to those who make decisions about publishing this information in print or online products. Members get significant discounts on the distribution service.
NEBRASKA MEDIA DIRECTORY:
NPA produces an annual media directory, where ad clients, government officials, candidates for office or anyone can easily find important information about member operations — contact info, audience information, ad specifications, publication schedules, ownership and much more. This directory makes it easy for those seeking to do any sort of business with a member can find useful information about that member.

Yearly membership dues are figured with a formula using your paid circulation and our advertising rate. The recent dues formula is:
Weeklies: Take the National ad rate per Standard Advertising Unit times 64.5 inches (half a SAU broadsheet page), add it to the circulation rate times 0.03.
Dailies (under 30,000 circulation): Take the National ad rate per Standard Advertising Unit times 96.75 inches (three/quarters of a SAU broadsheet page), add it to the circulation rate times 0.03.
