Access Your E-Subscription

Once you have an e-subscription set up to your newspaper, you can quickly VIEW the most CURRENT ISSUE, or SEARCH ARCHIVED ISSUES of your paper. (Remember that you need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7 or above for optimal viewing and functionality of the pages).

To view the CURRENT issue of your newspaper:

  1. Log on to the “Nebraska News Link” website using your personal e-subscription user name and password. (DO NOT use your papers’ limited-access ADMIN user name/password for e-subscription login).
  2. This takes you to the SEARCH page, and as an e-subscriber, you’ll see a quick link marked “Subscribed Papers,” and the name of your e-subscription newspaper. When you click on the newspaper name link, all pages of the most current online issue will be automatically downloaded to your computer for instant viewing. (A box may pop up asking if you want to open the PDF or save it to desktop. If you click on OK, the pages will download to your screen). Then you can click on each page number (left hand column) to view, or simply scroll up and down to view pages.
  3. Across the top of your screen, in your Adobe Acrobat Reader toolbar, click on the “magnifying glass” icon, and drag the cursor over the page to zoom in/out to read articles.

To search ARCHIVE issues of your newspaper:

  1. Refer to “Description of Search Fields” section for a quick explanation of search fields.
  2. In “Publication” field, click on drop-down arrow and select your newspaper.
  3. Depending on the information you’re searching for, type in your keyword(s) and start/end dates to find a person’s name, business, obituary, wedding announcement, advertisement, etc. Completed archives of scanned newspaper pages are effective from June 2008 forward to the most current issue. (Test scanning began in Fall 2007, but archives found prior to April 2008 may be incomplete).
  4. Click on gray “GO” button (to right of search/end date fields). Now as you scroll down the page, you’ll see line item search RESULTS. Keywords from your search will appear in red boxes.
  5. To view a single page from your search results, doubleclick on the newspaper name (in blue). A small text box may pop us asking if you want to open the page now or save it to your desktop. Click “open” to view the page on your screen, or click “save” and PDF will be sent to your desktop for later viewing.
  6. To view multiple pages from your search results, check the small gray shaded boxes (to left of newspaper name in blue) of each page you want to view. Then click “CREATE MULTI PAGE PDF” gray button (upper right on screen) and those selected pages will be downloaded to your computer for viewing.

NOTE: You can SEARCH the database of the other participating newspapers (at no charge), but you’ll notice a red “BUY” to the left of each line item in the search RESULTS. The only way you can view other papers’ scanned pages is to purchase those pages online for $5.00 per transaction, OR if you have an e-subscription for that paper.

IF THERE ARE SURROUNDING PAPERS IN YOUR AREA that you refer to/search on a regular basis, we encourage you to CONTACT THE PAPER(S) and REQUEST A COMP E-SUBSCRIPTION SWAP between your papers, similar to comp print subscriptions that many papers currently share.
